On August 16, the 24th International Festival of Lemko Culture “Bells of Lemkivshchyna” will take place in the Bychova tract near Monastyryska.
“The ‘Bells of Lemkivshchyna’ will serve as a reminder of the indomitable spirit of Ukrainians who, despite hardships, have managed to preserve their identity. The festival traditionally brings together performers, artisans, and enthusiasts of Lemko culture,” the organizers said.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The International Festival of Lemko Culture “Bells of Lemkivshchyna” is always held in the Bychova tract near the city of Monastyryska. The festival showcases Lemko customs and traditions, culture, and art. Guests can listen to Lemko songs, taste traditional Lemko dishes, and see handicrafts made by folk artisans. The “Bells of Lemkivshchyna” play a significant role in promoting the Chortkiv district, where the Lemko community is one of the most ethnically distinct.
In addition to the concert program, there will be a traditional Lemko kitchen. Visitors will have the opportunity to taste Lemko dishes at numerous pavilions. Workshops in blacksmithing and pottery will also be held.
